Hello there! I am Zach Scrutchfield, the Founder of Scrutchfield Accounting Solutions (SAS). I have over 15 years of experience working as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). I started my accounting career working with one of the largest CPA firms in New England, traveling the region to assist clients with their financial statements, accounting workflows, and recording complex accounting transactions. Leveraging the overall accounting and business knowledge I acquired, I then went to work for a smaller tax focused CPA firm in downtown Portland, Maine. In this role I was able to obtain expertise in both individual and business tax accounting and preparation. This is when I realized I had a gift for reading, applying and explaining the tax code to my clients. Assisting mid-size to small businesses gain clarity over their financials and deploy proactive tax strategies is where I thrive!

I have also worked as the CFO for a major regional insurance brokerage, where I was able to hone my business advisory skills as a key player in financial statement preparation, project budgeting, raise pool analysis, industry benchmarking and workflow development to name just a few. 

I am most excited to be able to share my skills and expertise with individuals and businesses here in Maine a state I grew up in and have come to love. If you’re looking for someone who has tax and business advisory expertise and want to keep your business local I am happy to set up a meeting!
